The story of Interweave Solutions

After selling their successful business in 2000, Dean and Julie Curtis served as mission leaders in Mexico for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While serving, they worked with wonderful people who struggled to secure the basic necessities of life and become self-reliant.

When they returned home, Dean visited several nonprofit organizations that claimed to promote self-reliance.

Many dug wells, built schools, or led expeditions for donors to witness poverty firsthand, but they didn’t actually help people start their own businesses to survive on their own.

While volunteering at one of these organizations, Dean met with the Reid family, and together they recognized that most nonprofits were dependent on large contributions. Without donor funding to cover salaries and buildings, the work would quickly stop. They envisioned an organization that would truly empower people to help themselves and continue thriving after outside support ended..

With financial backing and advice from the Reid family and others, Dean partnered with his brother Lynn Curtis—who had years of experience in international development—focussed on the power of groups to affect long-term, lasting change.

“At many gatherings they would discuss poverty and how to overcome it. While Lynn was focused on community development, Dean were very keen on business. They decided that in order to truly fight poverty, they needed to interweave the positive aspects of both business and community development into a non-profit organization that would help people create “self-reliance groups where they could work on business, home, and community issues”

Together, they founded Interweave Solutions.

After years of trial and refinement, Interweave Solutions launched the Masters of Business in the Street (MBS) program. Graduates who wished to expand their businesses, train congregations, or support NGOs could become Success Ambassadors. Instead of relying on a U.S.-based organization to fund trainers and facilities, Success Ambassadors could teach anywhere, charge for the MBS course, and keep the income

This innovative model eliminated the need for donor-funded salaries and buildings. With the proper training, Success Ambassadors could take self-reliance education to the world..

Today, under the leadership of our President Jonathan Reid, Interweave Solutions provides training and marketing support to more than 4,500 Success Ambassadors in 100 countries.

Over 120,000 individuals have graduated from the MBS program, with thousands more each month. More than 90% of these graduates report an increase in income thanks to the MBS system..

INTERWEAVE FINANCIALS

Your Generosity Changes Lives

Interweave thrives because of the generosity of people like you.

At Interweave, 100% of your donation goes directly to empowering communities.

When you give to a specific project, every dollar is applied to that project — with none withheld for overhead or administrative costs. If you give an unrestricted donation, it is still used entirely for programmatic work, such as providing essential business curriculum to groups in developing countries.

Thanks to a generous supporter, our operational expenses are fully funded, allowing your gift to make the greatest possible impact where it’s needed most.

To our current supporters: thank you! You’ve helped make Interweave what it is today.
If you’re not yet part of this movement, we invite you to give today. Your support will change lives.
