“(…) the MBS course from Interweave Solutions gave me an even clearer vision of how I can serve the community (…)”
My name is Pedro Henrique Baptista de Oliveira, from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. In 1996 I started my path in the food industry by taking a course in the area, from a school called Escola Técnica Federal de Química do Rio de Janeiro. At the end of the course, I decided to expand my knowledge and I got another degree in Food Engineering from Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV-MG).
Before graduating I was approved in a public contest for the Instituto de Laticínios Cândido Tostes, one of the most renowned institutions in the dairy industry in Latin America. However, this was not enough for me and I decided to work as an independent consultant, thus managing to set up more than 10 food and dairy factories. With this I discovered the incredible world of ‘”turn-key” project engineering, that is, a new concept in contracting services. With this, I realized that many farmers suffered from the difficulty of building a large masonry factory. Then, as an “opinion maker” in my area, in 2017 I received a contact via SKYPE from a company in Israel that presented me with a container cheese factory project. I realized the great opportunity to help small farmers to have their agribusiness so I created the startup called MODULAGRO. These are ecological, intelligent, easily assembled, and affordable modular projects that enable small producers and rural communities to have their own space for growing and producing food. Together with this project, we created the MODULAGRO Food Bank, which allows the reuse of vegetables that are lost between the field and the consumer, thus avoiding a loss of 30% to 40% of the harvest. This reused material is processed and transformed into jams, soups, juices, broths, dehydrated products, etc. that are supplied to social organizations, low-income communities, homeless people, nursing homes, etc. Even with the academic background I already have, and with the business in progress, the MBS course at Interweave Solutions gave me an even clearer vision of how I can serve the community and, along with MODULAGRO’s projects, change the lives of so many people. In order to do so, the next step will be to complete the Success Ambassador course to carry out my project.
