Portugal. My name is Anita Filipe, an Angolan citizen, and I decided to take the MBS course because my mother, who had already taken it, encouraged me to take it. In the beginning I knew little about it, but during the course I learned new things and I gave more attention to the training. With this training I intend to improve the way I do my business, the way I manage my money, and to donate myself in community services, something I had never done before.
I have always been encouraged to do something, no matter it was, like helping my mother with the salon, taking care of the employees’ schedules, organizing and cleaning the salon. Also helping her with the door sales, or customizing clothes for us to wear. At this time I live in Portugal, and with the pandemic of COVID-19, difficulties started to appear. My sister and I needed to start a business to help with expenses and so we came up with the idea of making hamburgers, then cakes in a pot, and it was paying off, because people didn’t leave home with everything closed. Along the way my sister gave us the idea of making birthday cakes to sell and this also became part of the business.
